Can a guy be a girl’s best friend?

A question that has led many debates to follow…

How many of us still think a girl and a guy can never be good friends?

Certainly, they can never be good friends… But, they can be the best friends you could ever imagine.

When you have a guy as a best friend you will surely have less of drama and more of craziness in your life. “What!! You too?”, are the words that kickstart the era of true friendship. He is someone who might call you stupid/idiot/dumbo/kido and what not…yet he thinks you are the most beautiful personality he has ever met. He likes all your funny posts and selfies on facebook and comments the most hilarious stuff you’d ever imagine, with no intentions to hurt you, but only to make you smile 🙂

Your absence makes him miss the important aspect of his life. With him, you have no hesitations, no ‘what will he think if I…’ attitude, no ‘what will others think if we…’, no ‘how do I look’ thoughts. Every girl dresses to impress, but when you’re with him, your smile becomes the best makeup, your messy hair seems interesting and you seem even more adorable in your pajamas – just because he knows you have a beautiful heart that people hardly own. All he cares is YOU and not the decked up you. You are yourself when you are with him, you have the freedom to talk nonsense and never get judged.

You have all the liberty in the world to be with anyone you want to, without your personal space (which doesn’t exist between friends) being encroached upon. Being with each other and still feeling the need to spend a little more time together, talk for hours and never get bored, provoke/tease endlessly yet never let any emotional arousal disturb your relationship, effortlessly bird watching and advising who pairs up with you 😀 When you’re low, a peck on your forehead or a warm hug saying “Don’t worry, I am there!!” just brings the silver lining to your gloomy days.

A guy as a best friend certainly reminds you of a protective dad who always secures his princess from the demons – like the ones in fairy tales. No matter what, he will make you feel safe and secure even in the lonely streets at midnight. Everyone can do great things, but the only few can do small things in great ways – love them. Respecting the smallest care and feeling the essence of untold sacrifices become a part and parcel of your life. There may be highs and lows in your relationship, but the truth is everyone is going to hurt you. You just need to find the ones worth suffering for.

A girl is always proud to have such a guy in her life with who, she can bare her heart, share the deepest secrets, laugh the lamest joke, text at 2am just to say “stay awake till I doze, dare you sleep” and it’s cute when someone stays up late just to talk to you. He rides you through the deadliest roads with devil who cares attitude and make you do all the weirdest stuff you’d ever imagine 😀 but never lets even a smallest stone to scratch you. All the care in the world is found in his arms.

We hang in, stay connected always no matter what, fight for each other, never walk away nor get distracted, never get too busy nor tired, and the most vital ingredient – we never take each other for granted. After all, friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our life means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. One  who can be silent with you in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with you in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares, that is a friend who loves.

Throughout your life you will meet at least one such person who is unlike others, never let them go! You might not get betrothed to each other – even if the world says “you guys make a good pair’”. That’s how we make best friends forever right?

Every girl has a best friend, boyfriend and true love. But you are lucky if you find them all in the same person. It’s never too late, start discovering that person around you… 🙂
